What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program. It provides supplemental assistance to students who are academically at risk. Students in kindergarten through third grade are eligible for Title I services in FUSD #1. (Struggling students in 3rd through 12th grade are helped in TRIAGE classes provided by the district.) Only those students who are identified for Title I receive Title I services. Title I teachers collaborate with classroom teachers to meet the needs of each student. Title I services are supplemental to, in addition to, classroom instruction. Title I is not a Special Education program.
Who Are The Title I Teachers?
FUSD Title I schools are either Target Assisted or Schoolwide schools. Each has a highly qualified Reading Specialist to provide the supplemental Title I services. These teachers have completed graduate education courses, intensive Title I training, and they receive ongoing professional development throughout the year.
